Famous American TV presenter Katie Couric is the next star to join the pickleball world. However, the 67-year-old lady unfortunately suffered an injury while playing this sport.
On her personal page, Katie shared a picture of a ping pong ball-like lump on her forehead. “When you hit yourself in the head with a pickleball racket,” Katie shared. In fact, she suffered this injury late last year but was recently shared by another account.

In an interview, Katie shared the benefits of playing pickleball. “I’ve played a lot of pickleball games. I’ve made a lot of great new friends through pickleball. It’s great. We sweat a lot and burn a lot of calories,” Katie shared.

Last year, she also organized a pickleball tournament to raise money for her charity.
According to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2025 report, pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States for the fourth consecutive year.
“In 2024, the number of pickleball players in the United States increased by 45.8% compared to 2023, an astonishing 311% increase compared to 3 years ago,” the agency said.
