Chelsea are on the verge of missing out on a top four finish and have been warned of a possible move for Cole Palmer.
For the first time since September 2021, Chelsea have failed to hit the target in a match. Friday night’s 0-3 loss to Brighton saw Chelsea fall behind before the second half, with the Blues’ chances all ending up as misses.

Chelsea have to deal with injuries as two strikers Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu are both out with pain. Looking back, Chelsea’s attack has declined over the past month, Jackson has also lost form, making the risk of losing the top 4 of this team clear.
Recently, former player Jamie Carragher commented on Sky Sports that Chelsea will be in danger if they continue to miss the Champions League. Despite investing more than £1 billion in players, this could be the third consecutive season that Chelsea fails to return to the arena they won in 2021.
“One thing I learned from this match is not only Chelsea’s poverty, but also Cole Palmer’s frustration. He probably won’t wait another 2 years to play in the Champions League, the best players won’t be so optimistic,” said Carragher.

“Palmer is one of the best players in the Premier League and scored in the Euro final. Chelsea should remember that, they may have a long-term contract with Palmer but Palmer will not be patient. Chelsea have spent over £1bn and Nottingham Forest are ahead of them.”
Carragher also believes manager Enzo Maresca should be worried, having been brought in to improve on the club’s performance. Instead, Chelsea could be worse than last season, finishing sixth.
“They are playing better than last season at this stage, but remember Chelsea lost just one of their last 14 games and finished sixth under Mauricio Pochettino. I look at Chelsea now and they are not capable of doing that, let alone bettering it.”
