Premier League legend Alan Shearer has praised Declan Rice, who was a standout performer in Arsenal’s 7-1 win over PSV.
The surprise happened in the match between PSV and Arsenal in the first leg of the 1/8 round of the 2024/25 Champions League. The surprise did not come from the home team being able to defeat the Gunners, instead the English team scored 7 goals against the home team, thereby winning 7-1.
In the match at PSV, midfielder Declan Rice did not score but he had 1 assist, in addition, the player born in 1999 also contributed a lot to the London team’s play. Premier League legend Alan Shearer praised Declan Rice after the match, he said:
“Although he did not score, in my opinion, he was still one of the best Arsenal players in this match. No one can ignore the work Declan Rice did in the midfield. He ran hard to support the striker and protect the defense, even had an assist for Jurrien Timber’s goal.
His statistics are really great. He has proven his ability since coming to Arsenal, he contributed a lot to Arsenal’s play, he is one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League at the moment”.
A 7-1 win over PSV puts Arsenal one foot in the quarter-finals. If they make it to the next round, the London team will face Atletico or Real in the round of 8.
