MU finds it difficult to recruit Gyokeres, aiming to buy Aghehowa for 84 million pounds as a replacement

According to exclusive sources from GIVEMESPORT, MU is still open to the possibility of switching to recruiting striker Samu Aghehowa from Porto in the summer transfer window.

MU considers recruiting Aghehowa

Although MU just drew with Arsenal last weekend and have strengthened their squad in the middle of the season with the £30 million deal for Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, the “Red Devils” still face a great risk of not being able to qualify for the European Cup next season.

Aghehowa in MU’s sights

The ineffectiveness of current strikers, including Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, has forced United to plan to upgrade this position when the summer transfer window opens.

According to GIVEMESPORT, coach Ruben Amorim is keen to make United more dangerous in attack, and Aghehowa has been on the radar of the Old Trafford team. However, United understand that this deal will not come cheap, because the young Spanish striker has a contract release clause worth around £84 million.

In addition, the current financial situation of United may make it difficult for them to spend such a large amount of money, unless the “Red Devils” are willing to sell some big stars to balance the budget.

GIVEMESPORT further revealed that in the coming days, United’s transfer plans will depend largely on whether they can go deep in the Europa League or not. Failure to qualify for Europe next season would put a significant dent in the Red Devils’ budget and could put Aghehowa out of reach.

Aghehowa joined Porto from Atletico Madrid less than a year ago after a £35m move to Chelsea fell through. However, United could give him a chance to test himself in the Premier League if he is determined to pursue the deal.

Gyokeres and Sesko unlikely

Aside from Aghehowa, United are also keeping an eye on a number of other strikers, with Victor Osimhen still Amorim’s top target after he continued to impress at Galatasaray on loan from Napoli.

Gyokeres will likely refuse to join Old Trafford if MU does not participate in European Cup next season.

However, MU believes that Aghehowa is a more feasible target than stars such as Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting Lisbon) and Benjamin Sesko (Leipzig). The reason is that if they fail to qualify for the European Cup next season, the “Red Devils” will find it difficult to convince either of these two strikers to join Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Aghehowa also understands that Porto’s chance to participate in the Champions League next season is threatened, when they are 9 points behind the top team Sporting Lisbon and behind Benfica.

If Porto cannot qualify for the Champions League next season, MU will have a better chance of convincing Aghehowa to join, in the context of Osimhen’s transfer value and salary making this deal more difficult.

In addition, the media also revealed that Crystal Palace’s Jean Philippe Mateta has entered the list of MU’s targets. The French striker had impressive performances before suffering a head injury. This striker’s experience in the Premier League is also a factor that makes him a worthy option to consider.
