The world of rugby was shocked to hear that famous former Argentine player, Federico Martin Aramburu, was shot dead in Paris (France).

The men who opened fire are believed to have returned to the scene on Boulevard Saint-Germain shortly after the altercation in a car and shot Aramburu dead. An investigation has been launched by the Paris prosecutor’s office, while police are hunting three suspects.
Aramburu played rugby with clubs in Biarritz, Perpignan, Dax and Glasgow, before retiring from the sport after a brief spell with a native Argentina team in 2012. He scored 40 points in his five-year international career with Argentina.
A tribute to Aramburu was shown on the big screens ahead of France’s Six Nations clash with England at the Stade de France later that evening, while former France international Dimitri Yachvili, who played alongside Aramburu at Biarritz, said his “brother” Aramburu was always positive, bubbly, full of energy and not only a great team-mate, but also a passionate rugby player.

Glasgow Warriors, for whom Aramburu played in 2010 and 2011, said they were “shocked and saddened by the sudden and tragic death” of the Argentine star. Meanwhile, Argentina also paid tribute, saying the country would not forget Aramburu’s efforts and performances at the World Cup.
The suspects are believed to be “extremists”, according to British media. Two other people involved in the shooting, a man and a woman travelling in a Jeep, were reportedly caught on security camera footage.
