At the time before the Indian Wells tennis tournament took place, tennis player Jannik Sinner was currently 2,500 points ahead of 2nd place Alexander Zverev, and 3,700 points ahead of 3rd place Carlos Alcaraz. From now until Sinner’s suspension ends, the players behind will be able to collect a maximum of 4,500 points. Alcaraz is in a more difficult position as he is the reigning Indian Wells champion and will have to win this tournament if he does not want to lose more points and lose the chance to catch up with Sinner.
Meanwhile, despite having a great chance to rise to the world No. 1 position, tennis player Alexander Zverev has shown inconsistent performance in recent tournaments. The German tennis player has not been able to win any titles despite participating in 3 tournaments after the Australian Open. Notably, these are only ATP 250 and ATP 500 tournaments with opponents who are much weaker than Zverev. Now when having to compete in ATP 1000 tournaments, there is no certainty that this tennis player will play well to win important points to rise to the world No. 1.
