Alcaraz is not subjective despite Sinner’s absence at Indian Wells Masters 2025

– In a press conference before the 2025 Indian Wells Masters, Carlos Alcaraz affirmed that he will be highly focused when the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in the US has many stars participating.

Speaking to reporters, Carlos Alcaraz said: “My approach has not changed at all. Even though Sinner is not participating in the tournament, many of the world’s top players will be here. I just focus on what belongs to me and try to show my best form.”

Jannik Sinner is serving a 3-month suspension and he can only return on May 4. The Italian star was absent from the Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Madrid Open and returned in time to participate in the Rome Masters, Roland Garros.

Alcaraz is the current Indian Wells Masters champion, when he beat Daniil Medvedev in the final last year with a score of 7-6, 6-1. That puts a lot of pressure on the Spanish star to defend his points in this year’s tournament.

According to the draw, Alcaraz can only face Daniil Medvedev if both players are in the final. However, in his semi-final draw, Medvedev is not highly rated compared to second seed Alexander Zverev, as well as Dubai Open champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and Mexican Open champion Tomas Machac

Carlos Alcaraz starts the Indian Wells Masters in the second round with a match against the winner of the Quentin Halys – Pablo Carreno Busta match. The next potential opponents for the Spanish star are Denis Shapovalov (round 3), Grigor Dimitrov (round 4), Djokovic (quarter-final) and Taylor Fritz or Andrey Rublev (semi-final).

The first two months of 2025 have not been smooth for Alcaraz, as he lost to Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. The Spanish star also stopped in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open when he lost to Jiri Lehecka.

Round 1 of the 2025 Indian Wells Masters will begin today (March 6). Top seeds such as Zverev, Alcaraz, Rublev, Medvedev, Djokovic will start playing from round 2 on March 8.
